New York Skies

from Pop Another Cork by Billy Dechand

/

lyrics

New York skies where the garbage flies
Plastic bags billow by
Captured clouds
Laid to rest in branches and the street

Take a break breath the breeze
Every tree repairs the air
Smoky clouds
Busses, trucks, and cars in the boroughs

Gilded dreams nights in dives
Wait for years keeping faith
Serving meals to sleaze
A fat tip might keep rent in check

New York needs one meal a day
Feed the fed, chuck the rest
Shadows of a golden age
Tower-sheltered vagrants seeking refuge in the heat of vented fumes
